3 Reasons To Have An Engagement Session in San Diego

As a San Diego wedding photographer, my number one priority is to make my clients feel comfortable in front of my camera. I jokingly compare myself to the paparazzi on my couples’ wedding day. I want to capture as many details and moments that I can, so they can savor their special day for years to come. However, I understand that not all couples are comfortable being in front of the camera. For that reason, I offer a complimentary engagement session to all of my clients. Here’s why.

1. An Engagement Session Allows Me To Get To
Know Couples Prior To Their Wedding Day

I like to think of myself as the bride and grooms’ best friend, bouncer, and wedding day timeline coordinator, all wrapped into the role of photographer! I’m typically with my couples from the moment they get ready until they’re making their grand exit. When it comes to family photos and bride and groom portraits, I make sure my couples’ desires and wishes are respected. If they want a minute just the two of them after they say I do, it’s my job to give them those moments together. If they do not wish to include every single extended family member (sorry great uncle Bob!), then I’m the one who gently excuses guests towards cocktail hour while family portraits are taken. When a bride looks at me and says she’s stressed about time, I gently reassure her that we are right on track.

I want my clients to feel 100% comfortable around me, put their full trust in me, and feel at ease being together all day. Engagement sessions allow me to get to know my couples and them get to know me!

2. An Engagement Session Allows Couples To
Become Comfortable in Front of My Camera

Some of my wedding clients feel so comfortable in front of the camera, while others blushingly admit they feel awkward. Either way, engagement sessions allow couples to get used to being in front of the camera, get to know my posing style, and become comfortable interacting with each other while I click away.

3. An Engagement Session in San Diego Provides Beautiful
Images to Use During The Wedding

One of the things I love seeing at weddings, is how couples use their engagement photos. I’ve had some turn their photos into a book that guests sign upon arrival or frame photos for table center pieces. There are so many ways to use the images we create together, that celebrate the bride and groom’s love for one another.
