Guatamala Missions Trip

Hello friends & family!

I want to share with you about an opportunity I’ve been given to travel to Zacapa, Guatemala, this September 17-24th. As many of you may know, missions is something that is near and dear to my heart. In both high school and college I traveled to Antigua, Guatemala to partner with an amazing organization, Students International, that was serving various needs in the community. These trips sparked my love for travel, for the world, and for bringing the gospel into broken places. In 2007, 6 months after we were married, Jesse and I led a group of college students on a missions trip to Malawi. For us as a couple, this sparked a desire in us to serve overseas one day as a family.

It’s been nearly 15 years since I’ve been on a missions trip and when I heard about the opportunity to go with our church to Guatemala, my heart leapt out of it’s chest! Our kids will be in school this fall and Jesse will be home on sabbatical, so this opportunity is something that is now possible for me and I’m ready for it!

Our team of 25 will be partnering with World Help (www.worldhelp.net), a Christian humanitarian organization that is committed to serving the physical and spiritual needs of people in impoverished communities around the world. During our time in Zacapa, Guatemala, we will be helping in an orphanage, putting on a sports and crafts program for children in the community, feeding local villages, offering medical care to villagers, and helping with physical labor on a building project. I’m eager to see God move in Guatemala-and at the same time, expand my heart for His people and give me a glimpse of what He might have for our family in the near future as we hope to serve overseas for a few years.

Would you consider partnering with me, to see God’s kingdom move in Guatemala, through prayer and/or financial support? Some of our prayer requests as a team are: for our team to grow close to God and one another, for the people of Guatemala to know God’s love for them, safety and protection on the trip, and for all of us to use our gifting in Guatemala to further His kingdom. Each person must raise $2300 to cover travel expenses, housing, and food. Would you consider donating towards my total costs?

If you are interesting in making a tax-deductible donation, you can donate online here and choose “Guatemala” in the drop down menu. Under “special note” you can write Desiree Jacobs. I’ll be sending a follow-up email once we arrive home, sharing all that God did in Zacapa!

Thank you for your love, support, and prayers!

XO,
Desiree
